The following is a loose translation of the description on the back cover of the book.

La homosexualidad a debate en círculos evangélicos [literally Homosexuality under Debate in Evangelical Circles] brings us a rigorous and in-depth treatment of a complex issue that we cannot ignore.

There can be no doubt that homosexuality leads to much soul-searching in many evangelical Christians. How can we give a true welcome, in our churches, to gay and lesbian people, if the Bible condemns same-sex sexual activity? Should we expect them to change or suppress their sexuality? Is that really what God wants? Or are there good reasons, as some suggest, for arguing that the Bible doesn’t actually show a blanket condemnation of all forms of homosexuality and, therefore, for supporting and blessing same-sex marriages?

This book describes the current state of the debate, with particular reference to recent Christian publications in English, where the discussion has been intense and significant progress has been made. It provides a detailed and respectful analysis of the arguments put forward by both “traditionalists” and “revisionists”, and their differing hermeneutical approaches (how they interpret and apply the Bible). It concludes by describing the different options available to local churches.

Its intention is not to offer a dogmatic response to the issue. Rather, its aim is to help readers form their own opinion. It will no doubt be of interest to gay and lesbian Christians, present in all of our churches, and to their friends and family; but in reality, its message is for the Christian community in general, and its leaders, pastors, theology students and youth workers in particular.
